How Does ADT Trusted Neighbor Work?

There’s now a better way. Thanks to ADT's Trusted Neighbor Feature, you no longer have to worry about doors left unlocked or lost keys. 

What you need is an ADT home security system, a Google Nest doorbell camera, a compatible smart lock, and the ADT+ app that brings it all together. Here’s how to set it up: 

1. You give access to a trusted individual, like a family member or neighbor, via the ADT+ app.
2. Next, you define permissions. You can assign neighbors timed access, allowing them to enter and exit during a particular timeframe, or event-based access. For instance, if a box arrives, the system can unlock the door to let your neighbor move it in once it validates them.
3. After you’ve set up access, your Google Nest Doorbell uses familiar face detection to confirm your neighbor when they come near the door.
4. Your ADT system will deactivate the alarm and deactivate the lock when the individual is verified as an approved user.
5. You get immediate notifications as your neighbor enters and departs. The app also supplies a complete log. 
6. After the trusted neighbor leaves, your smart door lock secures independently to shield your home.

You may authorize access for any person you wish, such as a repair person, pet sitter, or a companion who arrives when you’re not there. This service is also beneficial during emergencies, specifically when you’re off site. For example, if a water sensor trips, your system can grant event-driven access so an individual can enter and shut off the water. Setting permissions is simple with the intuitive app.
